Route 44, ’44th Avenue’, runs from Wheat Ridge – Ward Road Station to 40th & Colorado Station via 44th Avenue, 15th Street Downtown and Larimer Street.

The route used to continue all the way to Golden as its Westbound terminus.

Route 44 operates 7 days a week. Frequency is generally 60 minutes throughout the day and in the evenings.

The route is operated by TransDev on behalf of RTD using Gillig 40ft Low Floor transit buses from Broadway Garage, Denver.

Current Issues

This route suffers from poor routing as it misses 38th & Blake Station by one block. It will also need to be rerouted away from Larimer in at least two locations as the popularity of vehicle-free streets grows in Denver.

Future Plans

The System Optimization Plan proposes to increase weekday frequency to 15 minutes, evening frequency to 30 minutes and weekend frequency to 30 minutes.
